The Player's Standard ("we," "our," or "the Company") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our coaching and player development platform.
By using the platform, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

Account Information

- Password (stored as a secure hash — never in plain text)
- Profile photo (optional)
- Role (coach, player, parent/guardian, instructor)
Athletic Profile Information
- Position, jersey number, height, weight
- Graduation year, school, sport
- Performance statistics (batting average, ERA, exit velocity, etc.)
- Development notes created by coaches
- Goals and progress tracking data
Video and Media Content
- Videos uploaded by coaches or players (game film, practice clips, drills)
- Video thumbnails and metadata (duration, file size, type)
- Timestamp comments and annotations on videos
Usage and Technical Information
- IP address and browser type
- Pages visited and features used (for platform improvement)
- Session tokens and authentication cookies
- Device type and operating system
Communication Data
- Messages sent through the platform's chat features
- Announcements and posts on team feeds
- Email communications sent through the platform
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the coaching platform
- Enable coaches to track and support player development
- Allow players to view their own stats, notes, goals, and videos
- Facilitate communication between coaches, players, and parents within an organization
- Send transactional emails (invitations, password resets, notifications)
- Improve platform features and user experience
- Monitor for abuse and enforce our Terms of Service
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling for commercial purposes, or selling to third parties.
4. How We Share Your Information
Your information is shared only within your organization on the platform:
- Within Your Organization: Coaches in your organization can see player profiles, stats, videos, and notes for players in their teams. Players can see their own data and team announcements. Parents can view their child's profile (read-only).
- Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services to operate the platform, including Supabase (database and authentication), Cloudflare (video hosting and delivery), Resend (email delivery), and Vercel (hosting). These providers process data only as directed by us under data processing agreements.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
We never sell your personal information to third parties.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. When you request deletion of your account:
- Your profile, stats, notes, goals, and messages are permanently deleted
- Videos uploaded by you are removed from our storage
- Some anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for platform improvement
- We will process deletion requests within 30 days

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Important Notice for Players Under 13
The Player's Standard is a coaching platform that serves youth athletes, including players under 13 years of age. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Parental Consent Required: Players under 13 years of age may only use the platform with verified consent from a parent or legal guardian. During the account setup process, if a player indicates they are under 13, a parent or guardian must:
- Complete the account setup on behalf of the player
- Provide explicit consent by checking the parental consent checkbox
- Be responsible for the player's use of the platform
What We Collect from Minors: For players under 13, we collect only the information necessary to provide the coaching service: name, email (typically the parent's), athletic profile, and performance data shared by the coach.
Parental Rights: Parents and guardians have the right to:
- Review their child's personal information
- Request correction or deletion of their child's data
- Withdraw consent and close the account at any time
- Refuse to allow further collection or use of their child's information

7. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS
- Passwords are hashed using secure algorithms (never stored in plain text)
- Row-Level Security (RLS) in our database ensures users can only access data within their own organization
- Authentication sessions use secure, HTTP-only cookies
- Regular security reviews and updates
Despite these measures, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
